So - I live in a poor neighborhood. For more than a year there was this government building with a cracked glass door. It was a huge crack, very unattractive, kids would have to push on this glass door to get into the building, which didn't look super safe, but it was clear that while the government would have likely quickly replaced this door had it been in one of the wealthier neighborhoods, they were happy to just let it make the neighborhood look ugly in a poorer neighborhood.

How did you got into characters?
I hope to start a discussion between one who did and who are thinking about transitioning from strictly lettering to also characters. Cartoony, Abstract, Traditional, Realistic doesn't matter.
Where do you see it's standing in street art in general? Where/With/Ehy what did you start? Was at a natural progression for you? When did you incorporate them? Did you learn that it just wasn't your thing? What where some surprises you encountered? What can you recommend
It feels like something an artist might do, for example lets say I created an amazing pro-feminist poster, I’d upload it somewhere and be cool with others downloading it and putting it up in their town, I wouldn’t be very concerned about relinquishing the rights to it.

I 'm 35, female, paint abstract art and have wanted to try street art forever.
I recently separated from my husband of 10 years and I'm fully immersing myself in the "fuck it" phase of a break up - doing the things I always wanted to do but for whatever reason didn't. I have ideas about what I want to do create but honestly I don't even care, I just want to make some marks on walls right now, feel alive again, you know.

Firstly, I always see huge paste ups in Berlin and I was unable to find printing places that will print on shittiest paper, lowest gsm (so it sticks to the wall).
Shepard Fairey in Exit through the gift shop used to go to a place to print huge on thin paper, I used to have a place like that in England until it went under, I found it by mistake.

So around 10 years ago somewhere in the middle America there was art exhibition and the opposing crew came and pichacaoed the whole place. They mostly used red and black paint as I remember. I think that it was in Mexico but I remember the style and it was Brazilian pichacao. Anyone remembers that? I am searching for any sources online and am unable to find any info on that.

Hi guys, I’m returning to the world of art after some time away. I really want to start making street pop art like the ones with an abstract background, words written in graffiti, flyers stuck on, with images of a character/person from pop culture (Mickey Mouse, Biggie Smalls, Marylin Monroe etc.) but I’ve heard that you need a license to actually use a lot of these images due to them being protected by copyright. My kids daycare has faded murals along the walls of their playground. I’m a decent painter and have done a few large indoor murals and would like to offer to refresh the murals at the daycare. I am putting up a paste-up piece soon which is intended to be temporary - but I want to add some longetivity to it. It will be in a location which has high sun in the summer and also rain/snow in the winter.
I have read of people adding a varnish over the paste up (after drying) and also adding wood glue to the paste up mix. I'd love to know people's experiences with this and other mixes.
Currently I am experimenting with a stone varnish over the top of 80gsm paper, stuck down with a wheat mix

I have the potential opportunity to paint a mural in my workplace. I work in the manufacturing maintenance field and would love to do something tool based/industrial. There is some piping and scaffolding on some of the walls and I’m just struggling to find murals within that theme. I did find a cool tool pegboard one, but there is potential for three different walls(bent around 3 corners) and I feel like the pegboard shouldn’t be the only thing.

I will be hiring a small space to practice my art and was wondering if anyone had any “wall alternatives”. I used Bristol board etc for the longest time but want to do large wall sized pieces. A piece of art which has been on a pillar under a bridge for over a decade appears like its about to be destroyed. So, I have an art project to complete and it requires painting the risers on staircases. The stairs are concrete and already painted, though I don’t know what with.
The stairs are on the interior of an elementary school, so I must be cautious of fumes.
What steps would you recommend and what kind of paint? I’m a multi-media artist but this will be the first mural type painting I’ve done and I’m a little out of my comfort zone. Thanks!

My friend did a mural on a sidewalk nearby using spray paint and "mural paint from Amazon". She wants it to last indefinitely. She put spray paint sealant on but she thinks that's not enough. Does anyone have suggestions on how to seal it so it lasts as long as possible?

I was trying graff, but I cant hold a can for long and use consistent pressure on the nozzle because my disability mainly effects my hands(and now, legs/feet). Just yesterday, I had to cave in and start using a cane.

I want to do a large glue-up collage on a building with composite-siding (cinder block underneath).
If I use wheat paste for my adhesive, can it be power-washed off successfully after 2-3 months without destroying the siding? If something only needed to stay up for 1-4 weeks, what adhesive would you go with?
It’s not a permanent installation unfortunately, so I have to troubleshoot removal…

So, I live in Berlin and of course I have never ever sprayed on a spot where that wasn't perfectly legal or put up stickers or anything...

Hey guys!
Recently, I was thinking of taking spray adhesive to put my posters up on the street instead of using wheat paste. This would be certainly more expensive than the latter but it would also make the process of putting up the posters easier and maybe faster. All I'd need is the posters and the spray adhesive.

If it was as simple as charging him for 8 hours of painting, id do that, but it isn’t.
The job has taken another 4 hours due to something going wrong and I’ve needed to re paint stuff, and I don’t know whether to charge him for it or not?
It also doesn’t help that he’s been talking to me a lot, which I’ve forgot to time, as well as giving me loads of coffee and food.

I'm working an a project of urban intervention which is technically illegal as is street art. This one's for the muralists out there...I just got asked to paint over a previous mural I painted in Miami that's been sealed with an anti-UV/anti-graff coating. Being that this coating is meant to resist painting over, does anyone have experience buffing over this kind of top coat? I believe the coating they used was a quick-dry water based formula. Any advice would be hugely appreciated, thanks y'all.

Does anybody here have any experience doing media art out in the field? I have been thinking about projection work but I am worried about the logistics. For example, how to find outlets to plug into. Are there any battery operated projectors that are any good? Also thinking about portability- are there projectors that you don’t need to plug a computer into? For example, using a file directly from a USB. I have tons of questions and I know almost nothing about it!

Painting on a legal spot does have its advantages. You can carefully design and work out the letters. Especially when working abstract. The res is latex paint. Black is Tectyl (for when your car is rusting) Underground is chrome silver spraypaint.

WellBuilt Co. recently developed a 42 unit rental building in the downtown area of Stamford, CT. Artist DAAS was sourced as an artist for this 60 x 40 foot wall. I’m thinking about trying to put a legal wall in my hometown for anyone to paint on for free but I’m not sure how I’d start the process. Could I just buy some land to build it on and invite anyone who wants to paint or do you think I’d need approval from the city?

 | I'm not really a muralist but an architecture student which happened to be on vacation and was tasked by a local church to create an interior mural. Since I have no experience of painting large walls, I have several questions which I thought the experience muralists here could give me wisdom on.

I'm thinking of going around London sticking my art to some walls.
I've seen a few of them around my area, and would love to know what type of adhesive they use. What do you use if you have experience doing something similar?
Currently I have PVA with me, but not sure if this is ideal.
